Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a Senior Restructuring Paralegal, supporting complex insolvency and restructuring transactions for diverse financial institutions and corporations.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic legal team to ensure efficient case management and transaction execution.
  • Contribute to precedent research, drafting pleadings, and preparing exhibits for legal proceedings.
  • Coordinate with external counsel, clients, and third parties to facilitate restructuring matters.
  • Promote effective work practices and foster teamwork within the legal department.
  • Train new paralegals and attorneys on procedures and technical aspects of restructuring cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive financial and proprietary information.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and contribute to organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct research on jurisdictions, judges, and industry precedents to support case strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, proofs of claim, and prepare exhibits for legal filings and proceedings.
  • Prepare and file UCC financing statements and amendments, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage case files, calendars, and trial notebooks for efficient case tracking and preparation.
  • Coordinate outside services and liaise with involved third parties to streamline processes.
  • Train and mentor team members on department procedures and technical expertise.
  • Ensure adherence to confidentiality protocols and secure sensitive information.
  • Support fee application preparation and cite checking for legal documentation.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is required.
  • Minimum of six years of experience as a paralegal, with three years in restructuring.
  • Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and case management techniques.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to handle competing demands.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of UCC filings, lien searches, and legal descriptions is preferred.
  • Experience with Bluebooking and cite checking for legal documentation.
