Job Description
Title: Employee Relations Manager
Responsibilities:
- Act as a primary resource for employee relations issues, providing consultative guidance to managers and HR partners on performance concerns, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution
- Lead and document internal investigations involving workplace complaints, misconduct, or policy violations
- Support the development of performance improvement plans and ensure documentation is consistent and legally sound
- Provide high-touch support to people leaders, offering coaching, document review, and guidance on employee concerns
- Advise on involuntary separations and facilitate the appropriate handling of terminations
- Ensure thorough case documentation and tracking through an internal case management system
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, practices, and training related to employee relations and workplace culture
- Analyze ER trends and assist in quarterly reporting to identify opportunities for systemic improvement
- Collaborate on HR initiatives and special projects, including workforce reductions, audits, and compliance reviews
- Serve as a point of escalation for sensitive and high-risk matters, working closely with legal and compliance teams
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a dedicated employee relations role, including direct involvement in investigations and conflict resolution
- Background in mid-to-large scale organizations (6,000+ employees preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage high case volume while maintaining professionalism and empathy
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state labor laws
- Experience using HR systems such as Workday and ServiceNow is highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; additional HR certifications or legal education a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to navigate high-pressure conversations and coach leaders with tact
