Job Description

Award winning Los Angeles County Medical Center seeking Nurse Manager Postpartum in a busy Family Birth Center. 

 

A pivotal role is now available at a 300 bed Southern California Medical Center seeking a Nurse Manager Postpartum to oversee a 30 bed Mother Baby Unit, with over 100 FTE’s, which delivers over 2,500 babies annually. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage nursing staff in the postpartum unit to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. 
  • Oversee daily unit operations, including staff scheduling, patient flow, and resource allocation. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies, protocols, and standards tailored to postpartum care. 
  • Coordinate with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and other interdisciplinary team members. 
  • Ensure compliance with California state regulations, hospital policies, and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS). 
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for nursing staff to foster professional development. 
  • Monitor patient safety, quality indicators, and patient satisfaction specific to postpartum services. 
  • Manage unit budgets, supply inventory, and equipment to support efficient care delivery. 
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and implement evidence-based practices in postpartum nursing care. 
  • Address patient and family concerns promptly and effectively to ensure positive experiences. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing 
  • Current California Registered Nurse License 
  • 5 years of experience as a registered nurse in Maternal Child Health 
  • 2 years leadership experience in Obstetrics 
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets and implement process improvements 
  • Strong understanding of staffing and clinical best practices 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 5 years leadership experience 
  • Master's degree in nursing.
