Award winning Los Angeles County Medical Center seeking Nurse Manager Postpartum in a busy Family Birth Center.
A pivotal role is now available at a 300 bed Southern California Medical Center seeking a Nurse Manager Postpartum to oversee a 30 bed Mother Baby Unit, with over 100 FTE’s, which delivers over 2,500 babies annually.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage nursing staff in the postpartum unit to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Oversee daily unit operations, including staff scheduling, patient flow, and resource allocation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies, protocols, and standards tailored to postpartum care.
- Coordinate with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Ensure compliance with California state regulations, hospital policies, and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS).
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for nursing staff to foster professional development.
- Monitor patient safety, quality indicators, and patient satisfaction specific to postpartum services.
- Manage unit budgets, supply inventory, and equipment to support efficient care delivery.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and implement evidence-based practices in postpartum nursing care.
- Address patient and family concerns promptly and effectively to ensure positive experiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Current California Registered Nurse License
- 5 years of experience as a registered nurse in Maternal Child Health
- 2 years leadership experience in Obstetrics
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets and implement process improvements
- Strong understanding of staffing and clinical best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years leadership experience
- Master's degree in nursing.
