Project Engineer – Commercial Construction/Public Construction | Columbus, OH

A well-established commercial construction firm based in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Project Engineer to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to support large-scale commercial and light industrial projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in daily construction operations
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and information
• Review and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation
• Help track and maintain project budgets, schedules, and quality standards
• Participate in jobsite meetings and provide accurate project updates
• Support the closeout process, including punch lists and turnover documentation
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3+ years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within commercial construction; specific experience in local government and state work a plus
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Viewpoint, Bluebeam, or similar construction software preferred
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
