Project Engineer – Commercial Construction/Public Construction | Columbus, OH
A well-established commercial construction firm based in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Project Engineer to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to support large-scale commercial and light industrial projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in daily construction operations
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and information
- Review and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation
- Help track and maintain project budgets, schedules, and quality standards
- Participate in jobsite meetings and provide accurate project updates
- Support the closeout process, including punch lists and turnover documentation
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3+ years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within commercial construction; specific experience in local government and state work a plus
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Viewpoint, Bluebeam, or similar construction software preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
