Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage nursing operations within surgical services, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to professional standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize surgical workflows and enhance patient outcomes.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional growth and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Develop and implement policies to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting for surgical services, aligning departmental goals with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to infection prevention protocols within surgical units.
  • Promote patient-centered care by evaluating nursing care plans and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Coordinate educational opportunities and professional development for nursing staff within surgical services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise nursing personnel, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and professional standards.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize surgical care delivery and patient safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate nursing care plans, ensuring effectiveness and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Develop and administer departmental procedures to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Participate in recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control practices and exposure control plans within surgical units.
  • Coordinate educational programs and seminars to support staff development and competency.
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, MBA, or Health Administration preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical and supervisory nursing experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Current RN license in good standing in the state of Michigan.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and data analysis related to patient care.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff, patients, and administrative personnel.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention protocols and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ability to manage physical demands, including standing, walking, and assisting with patient care.
