Overview
- Lead nursing operations in a Level I Trauma Center emergency department, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to address patient and family needs effectively.
- Manage resources responsibly, aligning with the mission and vision of the healthcare organization.
- Oversee performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care standards and outcomes.
- Provide leadership and guidance under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer.
- Support a daily census of 125 patients with a dedicated team of 115 FTEs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and professional nursing practices.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the emergency department.
- Coordinate with physicians and other departments to optimize patient care delivery.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet operational needs.
- Ensure adherence to trauma care protocols and emergency nursing standards.
- Oversee training and development programs for nursing staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to achieve departmental goals.
- Maintain effective communication with leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes for the emergency department.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Arts (AA) in Nursing or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of acute care emergency department management experience; 5 years preferred.
- Active RN license in Missouri or compact state; BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- ENPC or PALS certification upon hire; TNCC or ATCN within one year.
- Strong knowledge of trauma care protocols and emergency nursing practices.
- Proven ability to manage resources and lead a multidisciplinary team effectively.
- Experience in performance improvement and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to handle high-pressure situations.
