Overview
- Lead and manage the Emergency Department operations during evening shifts, ensuring optimal patient care and staff performance.
- Oversee a high-volume Level II Trauma Center with exposure to Level I trauma cases, managing a team of paramedics, secretaries, and technicians.
- Coordinate clinical, financial, and environmental aspects of the department, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and patient care outcomes.
- Provide leadership and act as a liaison with medical staff, ensuring seamless integration of departmental services.
- Support staff development through orientation, training, and annual evaluations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage human resource functions, including hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations, ensuring team alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure effective communication of updates and information at both departmental and hospital levels.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the Emergency Department's evening operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient workflows.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets, maintaining financial accountability and resource optimization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards, maintaining a safe and effective care environment.
- Act as a clinical resource and professional role model, supporting staff development and performance improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary services, integrating departmental functions with hospital-wide operations.
- Develop and evaluate policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Lead recruitment, training, and evaluation processes, ensuring team competency and alignment with patient care objectives.
- Oversee staff communication and updates, fostering transparency and collaboration within the department.
Job Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years recent acute care ED Charge RN experience; 5 years preferred.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course and Trauma Nursing Core Course within 1 year of employment start date.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience overseeing diverse teams in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and healthcare operational standards.
- Ability to manage high-volume emergency care environments and trauma cases effectively.
