Overview
- The Estimator role involves analyzing project documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates and supporting preconstruction activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop pricing strategies and ensure competitive bids.
- Utilize estimating software to create accurate quantity take-offs, material pricing, and labor estimates.
- Engage with subcontractors and vendors to solicit bids and review pricing.
- Support bid proposals, budget development, and value engineering efforts.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of pricing, subcontractors, and cost histories.
- Participate in bid reviews and presentations with stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry practices and standards in estimating processes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and documentation to prepare cost estimates.
- Solicit and review subcontractor and vendor bids for competitive pricing.
- Develop quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor estimates, and project timelines.
- Assist in bid proposals, budget development, and value engineering options.
- Collaborate with project teams during preconstruction to support pricing strategies.
- Participate in bid reviews and presentations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of pricing, subcontractors, and cost histories.
- Ensure adherence to construction industry practices and standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field.
- 3–7 years of experience in estimating within the commercial construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and industry practices.
- Experience estimating projects in sectors like Commercial, Federal/Government, Healthcare, or Higher Education preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
