Job Description

Overview

  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care during designated shifts in the Labor and Delivery unit.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a resource for staff, modeling commitment to organizational values and vision.
  • Support patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery as needed.
  • Assist with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient throughput.
  • Participate in staff scheduling and manage labor aspects in line with productivity guidelines.
  • Provide recommendations for staff selection, training, and development to enhance organizational performance.
  • Ensure proper inventory control and manage supplies and equipment effectively.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct and monitor nursing care quality, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to foster teamwork and improved service outcomes.
  • Support facility engagement initiatives, including employee rounding and hourly rounds.
  • Assist with interviewing, selecting, and training new staff members.
  • Implement training, conflict resolution, and personnel policy compliance measures.
  • Manage staff scheduling and ensure alignment with patient care needs.
  • Deliver babies and perform scrubbing in the OR as required.
  • Act as the go-to person for staffing needs during overnight shifts.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Associate Degree acceptable with additional experience.
  • Registered Nurse certification mandatory.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required within one year of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience required.
  • Previous leadership experience in Woman’s, L&D, NICU, or Mother-Baby Units preferred.
  • Ability to deliver babies and perform surgical scrubbing in OR as needed.
  • Comfortable with overnight shifts and acting as the primary staffing resource.
