Job Description

Overview

  • Support the client’s tax department by ensuring compliance with Sales & Use Tax regulations and maintaining accurate records.
  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of tax returns and payments, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Assist with audits, data collection, and documentation related to Sales & Use Tax compliance.
  • Maintain business license files and ensure adherence to jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments and external authorities to resolve tax-related issues effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the tax department and implement solutions.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, combining remote and on-site responsibilities.
  • Engage in professional growth opportunities within the tax field.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain and update jurisdiction files, tax tracking sheets, and return files for compliance.
  • Prepare and manage business licenses to meet filing deadlines accurately and timely.
  • Assist with audits by collecting data, preparing reports, and organizing documentation.
  • Process Sales & Use Tax returns and payments using electronic and paper methods.
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts and review use tax accruals monthly.
  • Communicate with state and local authorities, branch locations, and internal teams.
  • Update tax rates and compliance software, ensuring accuracy and functionality.
  • Perform research on state and local tax regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the tax department.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Indirect Tax and Accounting; 3 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in Sales & Use Tax compliance and exemption certificate management.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting tax laws and recommending solutions.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external authorities.
  • Experience with tax compliance software and electronic banking databases.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of General Ledger reconciliation and use tax accrual processes.
