Job Description
Overview
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced UAS platforms and their mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate propulsion, power, telemetry, and payload components effectively.
- Perform structural and thermal analysis using industry-standard CAD and simulation tools.
- Conduct field operations including pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain detailed documentation of flight logs, maintenance records, and operational checklists.
- Engage in mission planning, site surveys, and risk assessments to support operational readiness.
- Work in diverse environments including office, lab, and field settings, ensuring adaptability and precision.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Design, build, and test mechanical systems and payload integration for UAS platforms.
- Assist in the development and improvement of drone airframes, gimbals, and launch/recovery systems.
- Conduct failure analysis, root cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
- Operate UAS platforms during field missions, R&D testing, and demonstrations.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company SOPs during flight operations.
- Support system-level integration of propulsion, power, telemetry, and payload components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, electrical, and aerospace engineers.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with UAS platforms, assembly, and repair.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
- Hands-on prototyping and fabrication experience, including 3D printing and machining.
- Knowledge of UAS propulsion, aerodynamics, and mechanical subsystems.
- Willingness to travel and conduct field operations in varying environments.
