Job Description

Overview

  • Work as a Construction Estimator specializing in federal and government projects, contributing to the success of a leading construction firm.
  • Engage in estimating tasks for public, private, and federal design/build projects, focusing on hard bids and conceptual estimating.
  • Collaborate with the Michigan office for estimating support while building out the Chicago-based team.
  • Utilize tools such as Bluebeam, Procore, Building Connected, and AutoCAD for project takeoffs and estimations.
  • Contribute to projects ranging from $1M to $10M, including ground-up construction tasks.
  • Work on-site in Chicago, ensuring effective project management and coordination.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for federal and government construction projects, ensuring compliance with design/build specifications.
  • Conduct detailed takeoffs using industry-standard software such as Bluebeam and Procore.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to review project requirements and provide budgetary recommendations.
  • Analyze project bids and proposals to ensure alignment with organizational goals and standards.
  • Coordinate with the Michigan office for additional estimating support and expertise.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies for team growth and operational efficiency in the Chicago office.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field, such as Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, with 10 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Bluebeam, Procore, Building Connected, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with federal and government projects, including ground-up construction tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of conceptual estimating and hard bid processes.
  • Ability to work on-site in Chicago and collaborate with remote teams effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills to build and manage a team.
