Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and oversee daily operations of the Medical Surgical unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Director to guide departmental growth and align with organizational strategies and goals.
  • Supervise and direct patient care delivery, adhering to administrative policies and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to maintain safe and effective healthcare systems.
  • Develop and implement competency programs to enhance staff performance and patient outcomes.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and maintain quality audits to ensure compliance with core measures.
  • Assist in budget management and supply chain monitoring to optimize departmental resources.
  • Provide leadership in adherence to national and specialty nursing standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, patient rounding, and ensuring patient satisfaction.
  • Interview, hire, and evaluate personnel, implementing learning and performance plans.
  • Counsel staff and enforce disciplinary actions when necessary, including terminations.
  • Assist with patient flow and competency development to improve care delivery.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory agency standards and nursing specialty standards.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and maintain quality audits to ensure optimal care.
  • Collaborate with the Director on budget management and resource allocation.
  • Ensure effective supply management to support departmental operations.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Science (AS) in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in acute care settings, preferably Medical Surgical/Telemetry.
  • Current NH RN License or valid compact state RN license required.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing healthcare teams and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory agency standards and nursing specialty standards.
  • Experience in budget management and resource optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams.
