Overview
- Lead and oversee daily operations of the Medical Surgical unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the Director to guide departmental growth and align with organizational strategies and goals.
- Supervise and direct patient care delivery, adhering to administrative policies and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to maintain safe and effective healthcare systems.
- Develop and implement competency programs to enhance staff performance and patient outcomes.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and maintain quality audits to ensure compliance with core measures.
- Assist in budget management and supply chain monitoring to optimize departmental resources.
- Provide leadership in adherence to national and specialty nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, patient rounding, and ensuring patient satisfaction.
- Interview, hire, and evaluate personnel, implementing learning and performance plans.
- Counsel staff and enforce disciplinary actions when necessary, including terminations.
- Assist with patient flow and competency development to improve care delivery.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory agency standards and nursing specialty standards.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and maintain quality audits to ensure optimal care.
- Collaborate with the Director on budget management and resource allocation.
- Ensure effective supply management to support departmental operations.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Science (AS) in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in acute care settings, preferably Medical Surgical/Telemetry.
- Current NH RN License or valid compact state RN license required.
- Proven leadership experience in managing healthcare teams and operations.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory agency standards and nursing specialty standards.
- Experience in budget management and resource optimization.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams.
