Job Description

Overview

  • Craft compelling proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports to funders utilizing data and storytelling to describe organizational impact.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with new and ongoing funders to secure financial support.
  • Collaborate with program directors, senior leadership, and finance staff to translate program details into compelling cases for support.
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities to expand organizational reach and impact.
  • Utilize grants database to track deadlines, submissions, and funder relationships effectively.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and complete mandatory training on regulatory compliance and good business practices.
  • Support the organization's mission by striving for excellence in all job aspects and fostering positive interpersonal relationships.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and write proposals, budgets, and reports for various funders including city, state, federal, institutional, and corporate entities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling narratives and data-driven cases for support.
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities to support organizational initiatives.
  • Engage with program officers and potential funders to explore partnership opportunities.
  • Write cover letters, acknowledgements, and routine correspondence to maintain professional communication.
  • Attend and report on bidders’ conferences and other sessions relevant to the organization.
  • Maintain accurate records in the grants database, ensuring timely submissions and tracking funder relationships.
  • Complete mandatory organizational training on topics such as compliance, IT security, and workplace safety.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts or equivalent from a four-year college required.
  • Minimum of five years of grant writing experience with demonstrated success in securing funding.
  • Proactive self-starter with excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong skills in translating data and program details into persuasive narratives.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
  • Comfortable engaging with program officers and funders on behalf of the organization.
  • Experience with grants database management and tracking funder relationships.
