Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Offer emotional and practical support to families, sharing personal experiences.
• Advocate for families' needs and rights within service systems.
• Educate families on their rights and available resources.
• Assist families in setting priorities and achieving their goals.
• Connect families to community resources and support groups.
• Collaborate with professionals to provide comprehensive support.
• Maintain confidentiality while supporting families.
• Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of family services.

Job Requirements

• Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA-C) or willingness to obtain certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Personal experience as a caregiver for a child with challenges.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Empathy, advocacy, and organizational skills are essential.
• Cultural competency and respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in computer skills and relevant software.
• Reliable transportation for travel to meet families.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish, Bengali, Mandarin, or Cantonese preferred.
