Job Description

Overview

  • Support financial reporting and accounting for development entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Perform general ledger account analyses and reconcile intercompany balances and transactions.
  • Assist with coding invoices, preparing journal entries, and tracking costs against approved budgets.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Collaborate with auditors during annual and interim audits, providing required schedules and documentation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Engage with joint venture partners to ensure accurate information and adherence to accounting principles.
  • Participate in transaction closing processes, including settlement statement reviews and gain on sale calculations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure proper coding of invoices and expenditures in general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and input monthly journal entries using Yardi accounting software.
  • Process funding and draw requests for projects with construction loans.
  • Track project costs against Investment Committee-approved budgets.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing monthly financial reports internally and externally.
  • Support audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.
  • Reconcile costs in Development Project Cost System to general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate with development teams and general accounting personnel across regions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word; familiarity with Yardi accounting software preferred.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and ability to apply financial data effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or progress towards certification preferred.
  • Experience with construction cost audits and reconciliation processes advantageous.
