Overview
- Serve as a Patient Service Representative in a healthcare setting, providing essential support to Women's Health and Pediatrics departments.
- Assist patients with scheduling, referrals, insurance checks, and sliding scale payments based on ability to pay.
- Educate and facilitate enrollment of uninsured individuals into public and private insurance programs through the New York Health Benefit Exchange.
- Conduct outreach efforts with community-based organizations, schools, and health fairs to promote insurance enrollment.
- Provide in-person assistance and information about health insurance eligibility and requirements to individuals and families.
- Support small businesses in providing health insurance to employees through the Small Business Health Option Program.
- Maintain organized records of applications and outcomes, reporting regularly to supervisors.
- Participate in seminars, meetings, and conferences to stay updated on health insurance developments.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed for outreach events.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Educate community members about insurance options and assist with enrollment through the online marketplace.
- Facilitate enrollment into entitlement programs such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and Managed Care Plans.
- Provide guidance on health insurance eligibility, income requirements, and plan renewals.
- Conduct educational seminars for individuals, families, and small businesses regarding insurance plans and programs.
- Assist enrollees with grievances, complaints, or questions about their health coverage.
- Promote healthcare services and distribute information in community settings.
- Travel to different work sites and adapt to various environments as required.
- Attend training sessions and meetings to enhance knowledge of health insurance programs.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by supervisors.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in contact center operations or healthcare settings.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records software (eCW) preferred.
- Experience enrolling patients in ACA, Medicaid, and other entitlement programs preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred but not required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills essential.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for outreach events.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability to various work environments.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
