Overview
- Lead and oversee surgical services operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to professional standards.
- Manage multiple Operating Rooms, ensuring optimal staffing and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols for surgical services.
- Participate in budget planning and monitor fiscal responsibility within the department.
- Provide clinical direction and leadership to nursing staff, fostering professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with safety and legal requirements pertinent to surgical operations.
- Actively contribute to hospital and departmental committees to support organizational goals.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and evaluate nursing department philosophy, objectives, and standards of care.
- Hire, discipline, and appraise performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with institutional policies.
- Plan and implement unit-based quality and performance improvement activities.
- Delegate authority and accountability to staff for clinical nursing practices and patient care decisions.
- Provide clinical direction and evaluate care levels provided by nursing staff.
- Participate in planning and monitoring the department budget and organizational structure.
- Ensure adherence to hospital attendance policies and legal requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication mechanisms within the unit and across departments.
- Support clinical and leadership development programs for staff, evaluating their effectiveness.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Registered Professional Nurse licensed in New York State.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience and leadership in Operating Room management.
- Demonstrated competence as a nursing practitioner and leader.
- Strong knowledge of nursing processes and standards of professional practice.
- Experience in budget planning and fiscal responsibility.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ability to lead quality improvement initiatives and evaluate outcomes effectively.
