Overview
- Lead and manage surgical services operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Oversee operating rooms at multiple locations, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal resource utilization.
- Provide clinical direction to nursing staff, fostering professional growth and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop and implement policies and procedures for surgical services.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility by monitoring budgets and optimizing resource allocation.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to elevate surgical care standards.
- Serve on hospital committees to contribute to organizational goals and strategies.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement nursing department philosophy, objectives, and protocols for surgical services.
- Evaluate and enhance the level of care provided by nursing staff in operating rooms.
- Hire, train, and manage nursing staff, conducting performance appraisals and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Plan and execute clinical and leadership development programs for unit staff.
- Monitor and manage unit budgets, ensuring cost-effective decision-making.
- Implement unit-based quality improvement activities and share results at the department level.
- Ensure compliance with safety and legal requirements pertinent to surgical services.
- Delegate authority and accountability to nursing staff for clinical practice and patient care decisions.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Registered Professional Nurse licensed in New York State.
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience in operating room management.
- Demonstrated competence as a nursing practitioner with 3-5 years of clinical experience.
- Strong knowledge of nursing processes and standards of professional practice.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and optimize resource allocation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster collaboration and patient satisfaction.
- Experience in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to healthcare regulations.
