Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage cash application operations for a dynamic organization in the real estate industry.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of tenant payments across multiple channels into financial systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve payment discrepancies and optimize workflows.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, standard operating procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes and reporting packages.
  • Drive operational excellence and support the organization’s financial objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, ensuring professional growth and productivity.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage daily cash application processes, ensuring accurate posting of payments to tenant accounts.
  • Oversee receipt intake from various sources, including lockbox, ACH, wire, manual checks, and tenant portals.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare journal entries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor unapplied cash and drive timely resolution to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Partner with Lease Administration, Treasury, Accounting, and IT teams to optimize workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Support the implementation of technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Act as the primary contact for tenant inquiries related to payment activity and portal support.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or accounting.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, including managing third-party resources, preferred.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as MRI, Yardi, or JD Edwards is preferred.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of REIT operations and real estate finance, including lease structures and billing cycles.
  • Ability to interpret complex lease agreements and apply payments accurately.
