Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Oversee project accounting operations, including revenue, profit, cash flow, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with leadership to provide insights into financial performance and strategic planning.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency within project accounting systems and workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and recommend enhancements to policies and procedures.
  • Support audit processes by compiling and analyzing necessary financial data.
  • Train and mentor team members, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the accounting department through proactive workload management.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare, analyze, and maintain project-related financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor and report on business unit financials, including revenue, profit, and cash flow.
  • Assess and improve systems and manual processes related to project accounting operations.
  • Communicate and enforce accounting policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits.
  • Identify and mitigate potential financial risks in collaboration with leadership.
  • Manage departmental workload and capacity to optimize staff utilization effectively.
  • Provide training and support to accounting associates and senior associates.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business with strong accounting experience preferred.
  • Five to eight years of accounting experience, ideally within project accounting.
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards or comparable ERP solutions and analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of GAAP principles and cost control methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide team members effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to influence change and improve departmental efficiency and morale.
  • Capability to manage projects from conceptualization to implementation successfully.
