Job Description

Overview

  • Support the Controller in managing accounting and financial reporting functions within a dynamic private equity environment.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and mentorship to Finance and Accounting team members.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting and accounting processes.
  • Collaborate on the integration of acquisitions into accounting and reporting systems.
  • Act as second-in-command to the Controller, providing leadership continuity.
  • Contribute to a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment with opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring reconciliations and journal entries are completed.
  • Manage daily accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Research and document accounting treatment for complex matters.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors during field work and testing.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems, reporting tools, and automation initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Support integration of acquisitions into accounting and reporting systems.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA license strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public or corporate accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
  • Experience managing month-end close and preparing consolidated financials.
  • Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience in accounting functions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience in distribution or manufacturing industries preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams in a fast-paced environment.
