Overview
- Support the Controller in managing accounting and financial reporting functions within a dynamic private equity environment.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and mentorship to Finance and Accounting team members.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintain robust internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting and accounting processes.
- Collaborate on the integration of acquisitions into accounting and reporting systems.
- Act as second-in-command to the Controller, providing leadership continuity.
- Contribute to a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment with opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring reconciliations and journal entries are completed.
- Manage daily accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Research and document accounting treatment for complex matters.
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors during field work and testing.
- Implement and maintain financial systems, reporting tools, and automation initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and performance feedback.
- Support integration of acquisitions into accounting and reporting systems.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA license strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public or corporate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
- Experience managing month-end close and preparing consolidated financials.
- Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in accounting functions.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience in distribution or manufacturing industries preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams in a fast-paced environment.
