Overview
- Perform MRI procedures under radiologist direction, ensuring high-quality imaging for diagnostic purposes.
- Utilize independent judgment and initiative to execute prescribed imaging techniques.
- Ensure patient care and safety during imaging procedures, minimizing risks associated with equipment use.
- Position and shield patients appropriately to achieve optimal anatomical imaging.
- Assess and address patient discomfort, coordinating with physicians for necessary interventions.
- Perform quality control checks and maintain accurate logs and service records.
- Operate imaging equipment in compliance with manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
- Dispose of biomedical waste following CDC and OSHA regulations.
- Complete annual educational requirements and maintain assigned duties consistently.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform technical MRI procedures independently, ensuring diagnostic imaging quality.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort during imaging processes.
- Position patients accurately for optimal imaging results.
- Conduct quality control checks and maintain equipment logs.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and equipment usage guidelines.
- Document imaging deviations and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate with physicians to address patient pain or discomfort.
- Maintain PAR levels and dispose of biomedical waste properly.
- Participate in on-call duties as per department schedule.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- Current NYS Radiologic Technology license/registration, including injection permit.
- Eligibility or registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Preferred advanced certification in Radiologic Technology.
- Minimum of one year of experience in MRI procedures; two years preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of CDC and OSHA guidelines for biomedical waste disposal.
- Proficiency in operating imaging equipment and performing quality control checks.
