Job Description

Overview

  • Perform MRI procedures under radiologist direction, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnostic purposes.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely, minimizing risks to patients and staff.
  • Assess patient conditions and adapt procedures to ensure comfort and effective imaging.
  • Maintain accurate quality control logs and service records for imaging equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with CDC and OSHA guidelines for biomedical waste disposal.
  • Complete annual educational requirements to stay updated on industry standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
  • Participate in on-call schedules to support department operations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform technical MRI procedures independently, applying prescribed imaging techniques.
  • Determine suitable anatomical positions and shield patients appropriately.
  • Assess and address patient pain that may interfere with imaging procedures.
  • Document deviations and ensure the highest quality imaging results.
  • Operate imaging equipment following manufacturer instructions and safety protocols.
  • Maintain inventory levels and ensure readiness of imaging supplies.
  • Provide patient care and ensure safety during imaging procedures.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals for effective diagnostics.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
  • Current NYS Radiologic Technology license/registration, including injection permit.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration or eligibility (Advanced Certification preferred).
  • Minimum of one year of experience in MRI technology; two years preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining imaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of CDC and OSHA guidelines for biomedical waste disposal.
  • Availability for on-call duties as per department schedule.
