Business Analyst – Data

Overview

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to bridge communication gaps and ensure seamless integration of data and analytics requirements.
• Gather, document, and prioritize data and reporting needs to align with organizational goals and technical capabilities.
• Manage backlog items and organize sprint planning to facilitate efficient project execution and delivery.
• Evaluate reporting tools and solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring optimal performance and usability.
• Support cross-departmental collaboration to identify opportunities for process improvement and data-driven decision making.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of business processes, data definitions, and reporting specifications.
• Contribute to the success of other IT projects during periods of lower data team demand.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Conduct stakeholder interviews to identify data, reporting, and analytics needs across business departments.
• Document current state data issues, pain points, and reporting gaps to inform actionable solutions.
• Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for effective implementation.
• Prioritize and groom backlog items using Azure DevOps, creating well-defined user stories.
• Organize sprint planning and manage work assignments for data projects to ensure timely delivery.
• Facilitate communication between business users and technical team members to ensure alignment.
• Evaluate reporting requests and recommend suitable tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python.
• Track project progress, identify blockers, and ensure solutions meet business requirements.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and validate delivered solutions for accuracy and effectiveness.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably supporting data, analytics, or BI teams.
• Proficiency in requirements gathering, documentation, and translation of technical concepts.
• Experience with project management tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and sprint-based workflows.
• Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL, and BI tools is preferred.
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and understanding queries.
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar reporting platforms is advantageous.
• Background in logistics, supply chain, or 3PL operations is a plus.
