Overview
- The Medical Assistant will support clinical care teams, ensuring exceptional patient care and engagement.
- Perform administrative and clinical tasks in primary care facilities, enhancing patient well-being.
- Collaborate with physicians and nurses to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
- Utilize phlebotomy skills to collect samples accurately, focusing on senior-aged patients.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by licensed providers.
- Maintain examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment to ensure a safe environment.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, special diets, and overall health management.
- Engage in routine screenings and tests to support preventive care initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare patients for examinations, recording vitals and updating medical histories.
- Perform routine tests such as EKGs and colorectal screenings.
- Administer intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections.
- Provide wound care and manage dressing changes effectively.
- Ensure accurate phlebotomy sample collection and patient comfort.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain compliance with tuberculosis screening and other health protocols.
- Support medication and vaccine administration processes.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of Medical Assistant training preferred.
- Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- CPR certification and phlebotomy experience are mandatory.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience is advantageous.
- Experience in medication and vaccine administration is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site with occasional local travel required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to ensure effective patient engagement.
