Job Description

Overview

  • The Medical Assistant will support clinical care teams, ensuring exceptional patient care and engagement.
  • Perform administrative and clinical tasks in primary care facilities, enhancing patient well-being.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
  • Utilize phlebotomy skills to collect samples accurately, focusing on senior-aged patients.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by licensed providers.
  • Maintain examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment to ensure a safe environment.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, special diets, and overall health management.
  • Engage in routine screenings and tests to support preventive care initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare patients for examinations, recording vitals and updating medical histories.
  • Perform routine tests such as EKGs and colorectal screenings.
  • Administer intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections.
  • Provide wound care and manage dressing changes effectively.
  • Ensure accurate phlebotomy sample collection and patient comfort.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with tuberculosis screening and other health protocols.
  • Support medication and vaccine administration processes.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of Medical Assistant training preferred.
  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • CPR certification and phlebotomy experience are mandatory.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in medication and vaccine administration is preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site with occasional local travel required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to ensure effective patient engagement.
