Job Description

Overview

  • Provide genetic counseling services to individuals and families, assessing risk for inherited conditions and supporting informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive genetic information and recommendations for testing and treatment plans.
  • Conduct research on genetic conditions and counseling methodologies to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Support patients through genetic testing processes, offering emotional and psychological guidance.
  • Work with couples to understand genetic risks related to family planning and inherited conditions.
  • Maintain detailed patient records, including family medical histories and test results.
  • Explain diagnostic procedures and their implications to patients, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Provide expertise in PGT-M/PGT-A implications and assist patients in navigating complex genetic information.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze and interpret genetic test results and family histories to identify risks.
  • Advise patients on inherited disorders, recurrence risks, and management options.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend genetic testing based on analysis.
  • Coordinate treatment plans by reviewing diagnostic data and consulting literature.
  • Assess patients' psychological needs and provide appropriate referrals or support.
  • Counsel patients on genetic risks for their children and family planning options.
  • Support patients through genetic testing processes, addressing emotional concerns.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records and ensure accurate documentation of medical histories.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree from an ABGC-accredited university is required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Genetic Counseling is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fertility-related genetic counseling.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for effective patient interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in time management, customer service, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Compassionate approach to patient care, maintaining composure under pressure.
