Job Description
Overview
- Perform MRI procedures using advanced equipment under the direction of radiologists and supervisors.
- Handle imaging tasks independently, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images for diverse patient groups.
- Provide patient education and maintain accurate records adhering to departmental standards.
- Operate and maintain MRI equipment, including low and high field magnets and associated tools.
- Ensure compliance with MRI safety practices and federal guidelines for patient and staff safety.
- Collaborate with imaging nurses and ancillary personnel to optimize patient care and workflow.
- Participate in training of new staff and students, contributing to team development.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Operate MRI equipment and perform quality imaging procedures, including 3D reformatting and reconstruction.
- Diagnose and resolve processing issues to ensure consistent image quality.
- Follow MRI safety protocols and conduct equipment and safety checks regularly.
- Maintain patient records and document procedures accurately using RIS and CPAC systems.
- Assess patients and prepare them for exams, ensuring proper documentation and screening.
- Administer contrast media as required, adhering to safety and consent protocols.
- Support departmental operations by stocking rooms, transporting patients, and maintaining equipment.
- Contribute to special projects and perform non-technical duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree required; graduate of accredited ARRT program preferred.
- Current ARRT certification mandatory; MR certification preferred.
- Minimum two years of MRI experience preferred; ability to perform venipuncture.
- Proficient in operating MRI equipment and performing quality imaging procedures.
- Strong computer skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety and adhering to federal guidelines.
