Job Description

Overview

  • The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring the success of surgical procedures and patient care.
  • Assist in preparing the operating room by sterilizing equipment and ensuring readiness for procedures.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain sterile environments and adhere to strict infection control protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on surgical techniques and technologies.
  • Contribute to a supportive and efficient team environment within the surgical department.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and industry standards for surgical practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare surgical instruments and equipment for procedures, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile conditions.
  • Monitor and manage surgical supplies inventory, ensuring availability for procedures.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on surgical equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to address any immediate needs or emergencies during procedures.
  • Document and report any issues or incidents related to surgical procedures or equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance surgical department performance.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical technologist role; 2 years preferred.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment sterilization, and infection control protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety.
