Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare surgical instruments and equipment for procedures, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile conditions.
- Monitor and manage surgical supplies inventory, ensuring availability for procedures.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on surgical equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to address any immediate needs or emergencies during procedures.
- Document and report any issues or incidents related to surgical procedures or equipment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance surgical department performance.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a relevant field is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical technologist role; 2 years preferred.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment sterilization, and infection control protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety.
