Job Description

Overview

  • Provide professional nursing services, including vaccinations, Tuberculin Skin Tests, and medication administration as ordered.
  • Assist patients and families in understanding care plans and treatments.
  • Perform EKGs, venipuncture, and specimen processing for laboratory submission.
  • Maintain patient flow and prepare patients for medical visits in a busy clinic setting.
  • Document care and procedures in electronic patient medical records accurately.
  • Order lab supplies and maintain nursing logs as required.
  • Educate patients on procedures and treatments as directed by licensed medical professionals.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control practices and sterilize instruments using autoclave machines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold professional communication standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer vaccinations, Tuberculin Skin Tests, and other injectables as ordered.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, including EKGs and venipuncture.
  • Prepare patients for medical visits and assist providers with patient histories.
  • Document patient care and procedures in electronic medical records.
  • Order lab supplies and maintain accurate nursing logs.
  • Process prior authorization requests for medications and procedures.
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control practices.
  • Educate patients on treatments and procedures as directed.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and effective communication with patients and coworkers.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; current New York State LPN licensure mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical nursing experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Proficiency in administering injections and performing diagnostic procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices and safety standards.
  • Ability to document patient care accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Physical ability to perform required nursing tasks, including lifting and patient transfers.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to ensure a safe work environment.
