Job Description

Overview

  • Provide professional nursing services, including administering vaccinations, Tuberculin Skin Tests, and other medications as ordered.
  • Assist patients and families in understanding and participating in care plans.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs and venipuncture, ensuring accurate specimen processing.
  • Maintain patient flow in a busy clinic environment, preparing patients for medical visits.
  • Document care and procedures in electronic medical records accurately and timely.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control practices and safety standards.
  • Educate patients on health practices and procedures as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Maintain current licensure and certifications, including CPR for Healthcare Providers.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer treatments and vaccines as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging orders and specialty referrals as assigned.
  • Manage physician paperwork, outgoing mail, and faxes efficiently.
  • Process prior authorization requests for medications and procedures.
  • Sterilize instruments using autoclave machines and maintain infection control practices.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and coworkers.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information and adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and patient transfers as required.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; current New York State LPN licensure mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical nursing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in administering injections and conducting diagnostic procedures.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and safety standards.
  • Ability to document patient care accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
  • Physical ability to perform required tasks, including lifting and patient transfers.
  • Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers is essential.
