Job Description

Overview

  • Lead nursing operations in a dynamic Emergency Department, ensuring exceptional patient care and clinical excellence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
  • Oversee a state-of-the-art 62-bed unit equipped for trauma, cardiac emergencies, and stroke care.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Support and mentor a team of skilled emergency-trained nurses and physicians.
  • Contribute to seamless patient transitions and long-term care strategies.
  • Drive compliance with clinical protocols and hospital standards to maintain quality care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff, fostering professional growth.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies to uphold excellence.
  • Address operational and clinical challenges to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Facilitate effective communication among staff, patients, and hospital leadership.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Ensure the Emergency Department meets its operational and clinical objectives consistently.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current RN license or eligibility to practice in the District of Columbia.
  • Minimum of 4 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC and CEN preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills essential.
  • Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or academic teaching facility advantageous.
