Overview

  • Oversee grants and contracts management, ensuring compliance with organizational and donor standards in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to streamline grant processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring consistent performance.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, budgets, and projections to support organizational goals.
  • Monitor grant awards and expenditures, ensuring accurate accounting and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Coordinate audits and compliance reviews, addressing funder requirements effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with funders and external partners to support financial objectives.
  • Assist leadership in refining financial systems and strategies for effective grants management.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct daily operations of the grants and contracts unit, supervising and supporting staff effectively.
  • Manage invoicing, financial reporting, reconciliations, and grant closeout processes efficiently.
  • Analyze grant awards to ensure proper budgeting and accurate accounting of expenses.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports in compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards.
  • Monitor collections, ensuring timely invoicing and reconciliation within financial systems.
  • Assist with audits, journal entries, and other financial projects as required.
  • Collaborate with finance leadership to optimize grants strategy and operational processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff, ensuring effective grants and contracts management practices.
  • Maintain high standards of accountability and performance within the grants and contracts unit.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with 7 years preferred, ideally in nonprofit organizations.
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong ability to analyze financial data effectively.
  • Demonstrated management and supervisory skills with prior experience in team leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to accuracy, quality, and thoroughness in work.
  • Understanding of donor regulations, particularly those of New York State and City funding agencies.
