Overview
- Lead and manage the Operating Room nursing team, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and departments to address patient and family needs effectively.
- Oversee preadmission testing, pre-operative, operative, and post-operative processes for optimal service delivery.
- Manage resources responsibly to support the hospital's mission and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain certifications such as BCLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of approximately 40 FTEs in a Level II Trauma Center.
- Contribute to the hospital's reputation as a premier destination for Women's & Children's healthcare services.
- Support innovative healthcare practices and foster a culture of excellence within the Operating Room department.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement nursing care plans for the Operating Room, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of nursing staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to optimize surgical procedures and patient outcomes.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, maintaining accreditation requirements.
- Implement strategies to improve patient care quality and operational efficiency within the Operating Room.
- Participate in hospital-wide initiatives and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
- Maintain effective communication with hospital leadership and other departments to align goals and objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; advanced certifications such as CPAN preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care Operating Room management experience; 5 years preferred.
- Active RN licensure in the state of practice or compact license, as per regulations.
- Proficiency in BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, with ability to maintain them.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills essential.
- Experience managing a team of approximately 40 FTEs in a high-volume surgical environment.
