Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage respiratory therapy operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director to develop and implement care models and protocols.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of therapists across all shifts, promoting professional practices.
  • Support the Medical Director in departmental responsibilities and clinical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and accrediting agency standards.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and maintain flexibility in scheduling.
  • Develop quality indicators for measuring clinical outcomes in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Promote staff growth through coaching, feedback, and learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to performance standards, policies, and behaviors within the department.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage employee attendance, and oversee hiring recommendations.
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise protocols, policies, and procedures for respiratory therapy practices.
  • Collaborate with RT Educator and Technical Director on staff education and orientation processes.
  • Analyze clinical practices to identify opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness improvements.
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills.
  • Facilitate staff involvement in departmental operations and decision-making processes.
  • Maintain visibility and credibility with the respiratory care team and interdisciplinary members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Current and valid New York State Respiratory Therapy license and RRT credential.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS; NPS credential preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience; management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of management skills and ability to lead teams effectively.
  • Experience in developing and implementing clinical protocols and quality indicators.
  • Membership in the American Association of Respiratory Care is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills to manage departmental operations.
