Overview
- Lead and manage respiratory therapy operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to clinical standards.
- Collaborate with the Technical Director to develop and implement care models and protocols.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of therapists across all shifts, promoting professional practices.
- Support the Medical Director in departmental responsibilities and clinical operations.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and accrediting agency standards.
- Participate in regulatory inspections and maintain flexibility in scheduling.
- Develop quality indicators for measuring clinical outcomes in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Promote staff growth through coaching, feedback, and learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Monitor and ensure adherence to performance standards, policies, and behaviors within the department.
- Conduct performance reviews, manage employee attendance, and oversee hiring recommendations.
- Develop, evaluate, and revise protocols, policies, and procedures for respiratory therapy practices.
- Collaborate with RT Educator and Technical Director on staff education and orientation processes.
- Analyze clinical practices to identify opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness improvements.
- Act as a clinical resource and role model, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills.
- Facilitate staff involvement in departmental operations and decision-making processes.
- Maintain visibility and credibility with the respiratory care team and interdisciplinary members.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Current and valid New York State Respiratory Therapy license and RRT credential.
- Certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS; NPS credential preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience; management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of management skills and ability to lead teams effectively.
- Experience in developing and implementing clinical protocols and quality indicators.
- Membership in the American Association of Respiratory Care is advantageous.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills to manage departmental operations.
