Job Description

Overview

  • Lead financial strategy and operations for a growing law firm with over 100 attorneys nationwide.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, advising on long-term financial planning and growth initiatives.
  • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounting, billing, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership to optimize practice profitability and streamline financial processes.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational goals and expansion.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the Executive Committee based on financial analysis and trends.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Advise firm leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including AP/AR, trust accounting, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Optimize billing workflows and collections processes to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, modeling financial scenarios.
  • Manage risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Mentor and lead the finance/accounting team, developing departmental processes and standards.
  • Collaborate with HR and operations to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of financial leadership experience, preferably in professional services or legal environments.
  • Proficiency in legal practice management and accounting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of law firm economics, billing practices, and partner compensation models.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage both strategic and tactical financial responsibilities effectively.
  • High integrity and sound judgment in decision-making processes.
  • Experience mentoring and leading finance teams to achieve organizational objectives.
