Job Description

Overview

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventative care, ensuring patient health and wellness.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to deliver coordinated and high-quality healthcare services.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education to stay updated on evidence-based practices.
  • Engage in community outreach and health programs to promote public health initiatives.
  • Offer mentorship and supervision to nurse practitioners and physician assistants within the care team.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical protocols and standards of practice.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities in electronic health records.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including history and physical examinations, to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and perform minor surgical procedures as necessary for patient care.
  • Generate referrals for specialized services outside the scope of primary care.
  • Evaluate diagnostic data, including lab results and imaging, to guide clinical decision-making.
  • Participate in peer reviews and quality assurance initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and universal precautions in clinical practice.
  • Engage in departmental meetings and contribute to organizational goals and strategies.
  • Provide on-call services on a rotational basis, addressing urgent patient needs effectively.

Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Current New York State medical license and DEA certification.
  • Board eligible or certified in area of specialty; certification required within 18 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and computer applications, including MS Word and Outlook.
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered care and professional development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Flexibility to participate in rotating on-call and weekend schedules.
