Job Description

Overview

  • Lead risk management initiatives at a healthcare organization, ensuring compliance and patient safety across all operational areas.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement effective risk management strategies and policies.
  • Act as a key liaison for regulatory compliance, accreditation, and infection control efforts.
  • Provide education and training to staff on risk management and patient safety protocols.
  • Coordinate investigations of incidents and claims, ensuring thorough documentation and resolution.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to establish compliance with standards of care and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance risk prevention and patient safety outcomes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and maintain the organization's risk management plan, goals, and objectives annually.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across clinical and non-clinical areas to identify potential issues.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and failure mode effect analyses for incident investigations.
  • Provide confidential reports of significant occurrences to peer review committees.
  • Collaborate with security and HR to enforce safety practices and prevent workplace violence.
  • Educate staff on risk management, patient safety, and incident reporting protocols.
  • Coordinate civil rights compliance and training for staff, ensuring adherence to legal requirements.
  • Manage claims and litigation processes, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or health science-related field; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of leadership experience in an acute care facility.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management or Healthcare Quality preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, accreditation, and infection control practices.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and managing incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of civil rights compliance and regulatory requirements in healthcare.
