Overview
- Manage and oversee billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely invoice preparation and submission.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to address billing inquiries and maintain compliance with guidelines.
- Handle complex billing scenarios, including discounts, split-party billing, and electronic submissions.
- Maintain up-to-date billing arrangements and instructions for seamless operations.
- Utilize advanced billing software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Contribute to special projects and provide backup support to team members.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in all billing activities and documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize billing workflows.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and process attorney bills monthly, ensuring precision and adherence to deadlines.
- Review and edit pre-bills based on attorney and secretary feedback.
- Monitor and manage unbilled inventory, applying retainer funds as per policies.
- Resolve billing issues promptly, including electronic submission challenges.
- Verify billing documentation for accuracy and address discrepancies effectively.
- Communicate with attorneys, secretaries, and clients to resolve billing matters.
- Assist in special projects and support team members as required.
- Implement and maintain billing software systems for operational efficiency.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of billing experience, preferably within a law firm environment.
- Proficiency in legal billing software such as 3E or eHUB is preferred.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with Smartsheet is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a commitment to accuracy.
