Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage cash application operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions and payment processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize workflows and resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls to uphold financial integrity.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, contributing to comprehensive financial reporting.
  • Drive operational excellence and align team efforts with organizational financial objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, promoting professional growth and productivity.
  • Contribute to the implementation of innovative solutions to enhance cash application processes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage daily cash application processes, ensuring accurate and timely posting of payments to accounts.
  • Oversee receipt intake from diverse sources, including lockbox, ACH, wire, manual checks, and portals.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare journal entries and address payment discrepancies effectively.
  • Monitor unapplied cash and drive timely resolutions to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Partner with Lease Administration, Treasury, Accounting, and IT teams to optimize workflows and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Support the implementation of technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Act as the primary contact for inquiries related to payment activity and portal support.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or accounting.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, including managing third-party resources, preferred.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as MRI, Yardi, or JD Edwards is preferred.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of real estate finance, including lease structures and billing cycles, is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret complex agreements and apply payments accurately.
