Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage the Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate clinical, financial, and environmental aspects of the department to meet organizational goals.
  • Act as a professional role model and clinical resource for staff and medical personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies within the department.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to support service provision.
  • Oversee hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of department personnel.
  • Manage disciplinary processes and ensure staff receives updates on departmental and hospital levels.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate services and optimize patient care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide leadership for the Emergency Department, ensuring optimal patient care and operational success.
  • Coordinate and integrate services within the department and with other hospital units.
  • Develop and evaluate policies and procedures to guide service provision effectively.
  • Ensure department operations remain within budgetary boundaries and regulatory compliance.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate staff to maintain high standards of care and service.
  • Oversee disciplinary actions and ensure staff receives ongoing updates and training.
  • Act as a liaison with medical staff, fostering collaboration and communication.
  • Monitor department performance metrics and implement improvements where necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care ED Charge RN experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course and Trauma Nursing Core Course within 1 year of employment start date.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience overseeing departmental operations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement policies and procedures effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to liaise with medical staff and other departments.
