Overview

  • Lead payroll operations for a prestigious institution, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international regulations.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies aligned with organizational goals and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with HR and external consultants to optimize payroll systems and processes.
  • Provide expertise in payroll tax implications for diverse employee groups, including foreign nationals.
  • Prepare detailed reports and analyses for audits, stakeholders, and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and lead a high-performing payroll team, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of payroll technology systems, driving innovation and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Interpret and apply U.S. tax codes and international treaties to payroll operations.
  • Manage tax reporting and filing requirements, including W-2 and 1042-S forms.
  • Collaborate with HR on payroll tax implications for visa holders and foreign nationals.
  • Lead payroll system implementations, upgrades, and optimizations to enhance efficiency.
  • Act as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries from regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and present internal reports and analyses to support audits and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with employment tax laws across multiple jurisdictions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership roles.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Payroll systems and multi-state payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll laws and taxation for foreign nationals.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
  • Experience in educational institutions or non-profit organizations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of general ledger integration, payroll accounting, and reporting processes.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage teams effectively.
