Overview

  • The Senior Accountant role focuses on managing advanced accounting functions and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership to maintain accurate financial records and reporting processes.
  • Provide mentorship and training to accounting staff to enhance team capabilities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, audit documents, and budgetary analyses.
  • Analyze and reconcile financial data to ensure precision and compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.

  • Ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain the general ledger and oversee daily accounting operations.
  • Review and approve reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable transactions.
  • Prepare and validate journal entries for accuracy and compliance.
  • Train and support accounting personnel in various financial processes.
  • Prepare audit documentation and assist in audit procedures.
  • Analyze financial data and provide budgetary guidance to departments.
  • Identify weaknesses in internal controls and recommend enhancements.
  • Perform monthly cash transfers and ensure accurate ledger postings.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is mandatory.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in financial statement preparation and accounting processes.
  • Proficiency in GAAP and GASB standards is essential.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in governmental or non-profit accounting principles is preferred.
