Overview

  • Drive safety performance and culture across diverse construction projects and teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs tailored to project-specific needs and organizational goals.
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections, identifying potential hazards and recommending proactive solutions.
  • Lead accident investigations and crisis response efforts, ensuring effective resolution and learning opportunities.
  • Mentor and train safety team members and project staff, fostering professional growth and expertise.
  • Collaborate with project teams to execute safety initiatives, including stand-downs and specialized training sessions.
  • Evaluate and implement innovative safety products and practices to enhance workplace safety.
  • Act as a technical resource, providing expert guidance on safety-related challenges and solutions.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage safety team workloads and staffing, aligning resources with project demands and departmental priorities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and career development reviews for team members, supporting their professional growth.
  • Ensure project compliance with safety regulations, addressing challenges and implementing corrective actions.
  • Analyze incident and inspection data to identify trends and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Lead OSHA and third-party inspections, ensuring adherence to safety standards and protocols.
  • Develop site-specific safety plans and conduct preconstruction safety meetings to prepare teams effectively.
  • Collaborate with corporate committees to enhance safety practices and drive organizational initiatives.
  • Research and trial new safety technologies, integrating advancements into corporate and project operations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 4 years of construction safety experience; 8 years preferred for senior roles.
  • Expertise in high-hazard technical areas, including cranes, fall protection, and excavation.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess safety data and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in OSHA regulations and safety inspection processes is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey safety information effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic schedules and respond to emergencies as needed.
