Job Description

Overview

  • Lead safety initiatives to ensure compliance, enhance workplace safety, and foster a proactive safety culture within the organization.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures aligned with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate safety strategies into organizational goals and operational plans.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to safety personnel, promoting professional growth and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze safety data to identify trends, address challenges, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Lead incident investigations and crisis response, ensuring thorough analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Act as a technical resource for safety-related matters, supporting project teams and subcontractors effectively.
  • Promote a culture of safety through effective communication, recognition, and proactive engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage and mentor direct reports, conducting performance evaluations and guiding career development.
  • Assess training needs for safety personnel, ensuring readiness for project requirements and compliance standards.
  • Evaluate and enhance safety inspection systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Analyze hazard and incident data to develop targeted safety initiatives and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, local, and corporate safety regulations and procedures.
  • Lead safety planning during preconstruction processes and subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Deliver impactful safety communications, presentations, and training sessions to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and industry professionals to maintain positive relationships.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Professional safety designations such as CHST, CSP, or OSHA certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction safety experience required; 9 years preferred.
  • Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in analyzing safety data and implementing corrective measures effectively.
  • Experience in leading emergency or crisis conditions with strategic decision-making.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks across diverse geographic areas and adapt to flexible schedules.
  • Willingness to work on-site under various conditions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
