Job Description

Overview

  • Contribute to financial management by providing accurate accounting, budgeting, and reporting for development entities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial standards through detailed general ledger analyses and timely financial statement preparation.
  • Collaborate on invoice coding, aligning expenditures with appropriate general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and input monthly journal entries to maintain precise financial records.
  • Monitor costs against approved budgets and reconcile intercompany balances and transactions.
  • Assist auditors by preparing schedules and supporting interim and annual audits.
  • Conduct analytical studies to provide enhanced financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Participate in transaction closing processes, reviewing settlement statements and preparing opening entries.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports for stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Process funding and draw requests for construction projects, ensuring vendor payments are timely.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Reconcile costs between the Development Project Cost System and general ledger for consistency.
  • Collaborate with joint venture partners to ensure accurate information exchange and adherence to accounting principles.
  • Review joint venture funding and draw requests for completeness and accuracy.
  • Support audits of construction costs by preparing required documentation and liaising with auditors.
  • Engage in continuous learning to enhance professional skills and expertise.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience, with public accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in US GAAP and advanced skills in Excel and Word are essential.
  • Experience with Yardi accounting software is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or progress towards certification is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and present financial data effectively.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
