Job Description

Overview

  • Manage and oversee respiratory therapy operations, ensuring exceptional patient care and adherence to clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement innovative care models and protocols.
  • Supervise and support therapists across shifts, fostering professional growth and excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in accreditation processes.
  • Develop and monitor quality indicators to measure clinical outcomes and improve practices.
  • Promote continuous learning and development through coaching and educational opportunities.
  • Support the Medical Director in managing departmental responsibilities and clinical operations.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling to meet organizational needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitor departmental performance standards, ensuring adherence to policies and professional behaviors.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and manage attendance and hiring processes.
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise respiratory therapy protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate on staff education and orientation programs with the RT Educator and leadership.
  • Analyze clinical practices to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills.
  • Facilitate staff engagement in departmental operations and decision-making processes.
  • Maintain visibility and credibility with the respiratory care team and interdisciplinary members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Current New York State Respiratory Therapy license and RRT credential.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS; NPS credential preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' acute care respiratory therapy experience; management experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage departmental operations effectively.
  • Experience in developing clinical protocols and monitoring quality indicators.
  • Membership in the American Association of Respiratory Care is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential.
