Job Description

Overview

  • Lead investment accounting and regulatory reporting for a global asset management firm.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement accounting changes and develop strategic plans.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and monitor regulatory developments.
  • Manage securities filings and ensure accurate reporting to regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor and develop a team of investment accounting professionals.
  • Engage in industry discussions and provide expertise on regulatory updates.
  • Contribute to the firm's Bermuda statutory accounting requirements.
  • Work in a hybrid environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure accurate statutory filings and sub-ledger systems in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Implement statutory accounting changes and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct technical research on emerging accounting pronouncements.
  • Participate in industry discussions and monitor regulatory guidance updates.
  • Test and utilize regulatory updates in accounting software systems.
  • Manage securities filings with NAIC’s Securities Valuation Office.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers on NAIC ratings and securities analysis.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on statutory bond definitions guidance.
  • Mentor and develop investment accounting professionals across onshore and offshore teams.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • CPA, MBA, or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience, with 10 years preferred.
  • Expertise in fixed income and investment accounting within insurance settings.
  • Proficiency in investment accounting systems, SVO ratings database, and ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of US Insurance Company statutory guidance and Bermuda statutory accounting requirements.
  • Ability to manage and mentor teams effectively.
