School Social Worker

Overview

• Provide comprehensive social work services within a school setting, addressing diverse student needs and fostering a supportive environment.
• Collaborate with educators, families, and community resources to enhance student well-being and academic success.
• Utilize evidence-based practices to assess and address behavioral and emotional challenges among students.
• Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to individual student needs and circumstances.
• Support students in navigating social and academic challenges, promoting resilience and coping strategies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives to promote mental health awareness and inclusivity.
• Contribute to a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic support for students and families.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Conduct assessments to identify students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with educators and families.
• Provide counseling and crisis intervention services to students facing challenges.
• Facilitate group sessions to address common issues such as peer relationships and stress management.
• Coordinate with community resources to provide additional support for students and families.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust plans as needed.
• Participate in professional development to stay updated on best practices in school social work.
• Maintain compliance with school policies and relevant regulations regarding student welfare.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in social work, preferably in an educational setting.
• Proficiency in evidence-based practices for addressing student behavioral and emotional challenges.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to develop partnerships to support student needs.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and basic computer applications.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred; additional language skills are an asset.
