Job Description

Overview

  • Lead nursing operations in a substance abuse treatment facility, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional growth and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Nursing to implement strategic initiatives and enhance patient care services.
  • Manage staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient resource utilization.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering and storing medical supplies responsibly.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Participate in hiring processes, orienting new staff, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Act as a clinical resource, performing nursing activities and assisting in patient medication administration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage the Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise staff performance, providing guidance and addressing deficiencies with corrective plans.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and oversee the orientation of new nursing personnel.
  • Monitor inventory, ensuring proper storage and replacement of expired medical supplies.
  • Assist in clinical procedures, including medication administration and specimen collection.
  • Develop and implement patient care policies and procedures in collaboration with leadership.
  • Provide education and training to nursing staff, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure a professional and efficient work environment within the facility.
  • Participate in performance appraisals and contribute to staff evaluations.

Job Requirements

  • Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New York.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification for healthcare providers.
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in substance abuse treatment settings.
  • Charge Nurse or management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of substance abuse treatment protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills to manage departmental operations.
  • Ability to mentor and educate nursing staff effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
